Online soccer betting tips for Switzerland – Turkey
Switzerland faces Turkey at the Baku Olimpiya Stadionu in a match from Group A of the Euro 2020. Stay with us because we are going to offer you our online soccer betting tips for this game. Let’s get to work!
Switzerland are in a position in which they must look for a win at any cost. The Crusaders won just one point in their first two matches in this group, and most certainly that’s not good. Vladimir Petkovic’ team is third in the standings with one point won from the 1-1 draw with Wales in the first round of the group stage. If they want to hope for reaching the 1/8-finals, they must be looking for a win in this match.
Few days ago Switzerland faced the strongest team in this group Italy, and just like many of us actually expected, they were unable to oppose them. The Azzurri dominated during the whole 90 minutes, and at the end triumphed with 3-0 at the Olimpico. For the Swiss side this was not really a great result not just because the loss, but also because of they it damaged their goal difference in the group.
Just like against Wales, Vladimir Petkovic’ 3-4-3 formation didn’t work against the Italians. Once again the two strikers Haris Seferovic and Breel Embolo remained isolated in attack while Xherdan Shaqiri didn’t provide them with the service it is expected of him. In midfield Granit Xhaka and Remo Freuler got overpowered by the Italian players.
Petkovic’ substitutions against Italy didn’t really work, too. Players like Gavranovic, Zuber, Widmer and Vargas entered the pitch in the second half, but it didn’t change the game very much. Switzerland remained in a position in which they were unable to do anything significant. So far they have scored just one goal for 180 minutes of playing and these stars are surely not good.
What Switzerland are lacking right now is more organisation in their play. The team does not move the ball in the best possible way between the lines, while they also can’t feed the strikers enough balls to create danger for the opponent. Xherdan Shaqiri should be the man to approach the “number 10” role and brings creativity to the team, but at the same time he doesn’t influence the game enough. Kevin Mbabu and Ricardo Rodriguez were not effective enough from the wings, too.
Against Turkey, Vladimir Petkovic must look for a solution to this problem. He could make some changes in his line-up in order to refresh the team. Denis Zakaria could be introduced in the central midfield while Ruben Vargas is another option for the line-up. Switzerland’s depth is not so impressive compared to other teams, but they still have some good players on the bench. The question is – will Petkovic give them a shot?
Turkey arrived at the Euro with significant hopes for a memorable performance, but now they have zero points after two games played. The Crescent Stars didn’t score a single goal in the two matches they played so far, and it looks like they will go home with their tails between their legs. That’s not what the nation expected from Senol Gunes as well – the coach who qualified the team third at the 2002 World Cup.
After a 0-3 defeat against Italy in their first game, Turkey suffered another 0-2 defeat at the hands of Wales few days ago. Once again the Turkish side just didn’t do enough to convince us that they deserve to reach the knockout phase. Their performance was poor and uninspired while their game was filled with many tactical errors they made. Senol Gunes made some changes compared to the game against Italy, but it didn’t work at all.
Gunes took the decision to bring Leicester City’s winger Cengiz Under in the line-up after some fans were furious about his omission against Italy. This was one of the many things Gunes tried, and which didn’t work. Under didn’t even finish the game while his teammates didn’t have any clear idea how to penetrate the Welsh defense.
At his press-conference Senol Gunes admitted that his players are not in the best mental state right now. The confidence in the team is very low after losing two games in a row, so now the Turkish players must fix their heads before anything else. No tactical changes would work if they are not ready to forget about what happened so far, and get back to their best. The confidence could be a key factor here for them. But we can say the same thing about the Swiss team as well, right?
Against Wales Gunes took a very unexpected decision as he left one of the team’s leaders Merih Demiral on the bench. Juventus’ center-back entered the pitch after the break, though. It’d be interesting to see if now Demiral would get back to the starting eleven. At the same time Irfan Kahveci could be one of the players to be picked again in the line-up – he replaced Cengiz Under against the Dragons. In attack Gunes could try something new as well because Galatasaray’s Halil Dervisoglu is ready to show what he can do despite his young age. Dervisoglu was one of the substitutions against Wales, so why shouldn’t we see him against Switzerland, too?
That’s the online soccer betting tips for the Euro 2020 fixture between Switzerland and Turkey at the Euro 2020. Both of these two teams can’t be satisfied with what they have shown so far at the competition, and it won’t be surprising to see them saying goodbye to the tournament. Surely the fans expected more from their favorite players, but sometimes at big competitions it doesn’t go entirely according to your plans. The competition is incredible, and you must be at your very best to achieve something. Now both Switzerland and Turkey have the chance to show something more than what they have shown so far. But can they actually do it?
