It’s being rumoured that Torres is wanted by Real Madrid as a replacement for Raphael Varane. Pau is a top class defender who also represented Spain during the Euro 2020. He’s just 24-years old which puts him in a perfect age for making such a move to one of the biggest clubs in the country. Villarreal would be weakened if Pau Torres leave, but at the same time it would mean some fantastic fee they would receive for his services.

 

Another key player Villarreal would hope to keep is the striker Gerard Moreno. Just like Pau Torres, he represented Spain during the European Championship. Moreno scored 30 goals in 46 games for the Yellow Submarine last season and proved to be one of the most in-form strikers in Europe. Some clubs are interested in his services, but it won’t be surprising if Villarreal decide to keep him for their Champions League efforts in the upcoming season. Dani Parejo remains the most important player in Villarreal’s midfield. The former Valencia captain is the creative genius in the Yellow Submarine’s team. He knows how to control the game, how to change the tempo and switch from defense to attack. Signing Parejo was one of the first things Unai Emery did since joining Villarreal. Granada start the new season with a new head coach on the helm. This is the former manager of the national team Robert Moreno. The 43-years old tactician returns to Spain after a short stint at Monaco in the Ligue 1. He did very well while managing Spain, but his efforts in France was somehow average. Now he can prove he’s really a good and probably one of the future top coaches in Spain.

 

On the summer transfer market Granada signed three new players so far. The Peruvian centre-back Luis Abram arrived from Velez Sarsfield while Carlos Bacca moved from Granada’s first opponent for the new season – Villarreal. Granada also signed the talented 21-years old midfielder Monchu from Barcelona. All three players moved to Granada as free agents – the club didn’t paid any fees for them.

 

The veteran Roberto Soldado left Granada and moved to La Liga rivals Levante. At the same time the goalkeeper Rui Silva moved to Real Betis while Fede Vico also left as a free agent. We shall remind you that Granada can’t use Kenedy, Jesus Vallejo, Yangel Herrera, Nehuen Perez and Domingos Quina anymore – they returned to their clubs after the end of their loan spells.

 

Despite being 39-years old, Jorge Molina remains one of Granada’s most dangerous strikers. The veteran scored 8 La Liga goals last season and he remains a forward with a pure instinct for the goal. Now he would have some solid competition after the arrival of Carlos Bacca. The Colombian striker is a well-known name in Spain and a player with some fine qualities. Bacca was not needed in Villarreal anymore, but he could be a really important player for Granada. If he manages to score double figures for his new club it would be very good. And it won’t be surprising at all.

 

Monchu is another new signing we should keep an eye on. Product of Barcelona’s famous academy La Masia, Monchu spent the last season in Girona. He played a lot of games for this club, so maybe now he’s ready to impress in La Liga as well. This is going to be Monchu’s first season in the elite division. If everything goes according to plan, Monchu could turn out to be one of Granada’s best players. At least this is what we expect of him.
