Soccer predictions online for Chelsea – Norwich
Chelsea hosts Norwich City at the Stamford Bridge in a game from the 9th round of the Premier League. It’s a good idea to stay with us and our soccer predictions online for this game!
Chelsea are still topping the Premier League standings with 19 points won from 8 games played. This puts them just one point ahead of the second Liverpool and two points ahead of Manchester City. Obviously we will see a great fight for the title this season – we don’t have any doubts about that.
Last weekend Chelsea enjoyed their 6th win from the beginning of the season. Thomas Tuchel’s team faced Brentford away from home and it was tough, but they found a way to get the three points. Surprisingly Ben Chilwell scored the winning goal in the 45th minute. For the left-back this was a second consecutive goal in the league, so we are talking about forming a pattern here. Chilwell made a terrific shot from the edge of the penalty area and made Brentford’s keeper David Raya helpless.
Of course, we all knew it won’t be an easy one for Chelsea. Brentord are one of the surprises in the league. They are newcomers, but also currently in the Top 10 – this speaks pretty well for their capabilities. The Bees made a stand against Chelsea, but at the end they have to admit the European champions’ superiority.
Chelsea’s manager Thomas Tuchel made some tactical changes for the visit to the Brentford Community Stadium. He switched from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2 for the game. Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner started upfront while Kante, Loftus-Cheek and Kovacic started in midfield in the absence of Jorginho. The captain Azpilicueta and Ben Chilwell operated on the two flanks.
What’s worrying for Chelsea is Romelu Lukaku’s form. Against Brentford the Belgian striker made his sixth consecutive game without scoring a goal with the blue shirt. We all know how good Lukaku is, but clearly that’s not something which is working for his confidence at the moment. He actually scored against Brentford, but his goal was disallowed because of an offside.
Tuchel is a manager who likes to change his line-up, so we expect to see some rotations against Norwich City as well. Players like Jorginho, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi could find themselves in the starting eleven again. The summer signing Saul could get a rare chance to play, too. The Spanish midfielder is having a hard time since joining the Blues. He rarely plays as he feels some serious trouble to adapt to English football. That’s not a pleasant situation for him, but he’s a good player so maybe he will find a way to impress.
Winning against the weakest team in the league, especially at home, is a must for Chelsea. The Blues would like to remain leaders in the competition, so we can’t even discuss a possibility of them not winning this game. It’s also a great opportunity for Romelu Lukaku to get back on his usual business – scoring goals. It’d be great for his confidence. Chelsea need the Belgian to be at his best if they want to win the Premier League again – that’s exactly why they splashed so much money for him in the summer. He was the missing piece of the puzzle, but he needs to step up right now.
Christian Pulisic remains sidelined in Chelsea’s squad. The American striker is still recovering from his injury – he has made just one Premier League appearance this season. Pulisic is important for Chelsea’s depth in attack, so Tuchel still awaits his return to action. He’s going to bring something different in his team’s attacking game.
Norwich City are currently 20th in the Premier League standings with just two points won since the beginning of the season. The Canaries are without a win and four points behind the 17th Leeds United. As it looks it would be another very difficult season for them. The manager Daniel Farke must come to a solution how to make his team win in the elite division.
Norwich at least won two points in their last two games in the Premier League – the club made two consecutive draws against Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion. It ain’t much, but it’s a small step in the right direction. What’s curious is that both games ended with the same result – 0-0. For Norwich it’s good they didn’t concede, but it’s also worrying that they didn’t score as well. Farke’s team have scored just two goals in eight games played – that’s not how they are going to survive.
Daniel Farke used a defensive 5-3-2 formation against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Carrow Road. Teemu Pukki and Joshua Sargent started upfront while McLean, Normann and Lees Melou operated in midfield. The Kosovan international Milot Rashica started from the bench, but entered the pitch in the second half. This time Farke didn’t use the Scottish wonderkid Billy Gilmour, loaned from Chelsea – the young midfielder remain on the bench for the whole 90 minutes.
The German defender Christoph Zimmermann remains sidelined with an injury in Norwich City’s team. He has not made an appearance with the yellow shirt so far. That’s not good for the manager because Daniel Farke doesn’t have the depth of the big clubs – every player is important.
The last time these two teams met was in July 2020 in the Premier League – Chelsea won this one by 1-0. During the same season they won the game at the Carrow Road as well.
That’s the soccer predictions online for the Premier League clash between Chelsea and Norwich City at the Stamford Bridge. On paper it should be an easy one for the Blues, but we have to remind you – no game is easy in the world’s strongest competition. Chelsea must be serious about winning this one, because Norwich are up against the wall and they are hungry for points. Let’s see if they can cause some trouble to the European champions.
