Southampton and West Ham United face each other at the St. Mary’s on Saturday

Southampton and West Ham United face each other at the St. Mary’s on Saturday in a game from the 17th round of the Premier League. We are about to discuss this fixture with you in our English Premier League predictions.

Southampton are still trying to get away from the relegation zone. Right now they are 18th in the league with 15 points, but inches away from the 17th Aston Villa and the safe zone. If Southampton manage to win a point or three against West Ham, this could allow them to escape the relegation zone of the league.

Since the beginning of the season Ralph Hassenhuttl’s team have won just four of their games. You can bet that the Austrian manager is not happy with this performance. In order to survive Southampton are going to need some better consistency. That’s clear.

Last week the Saints suffered their 9th defeat for the season. They visited Newcastle United, but conceded a 1-2 defeat. Danny Ings scored his 9th Premier League goal, but the Magpies still won.

West Ham United are also looking for a way to improve their performance. At this moment the Hammers are 16th in the league, just two positions above their next opponent. Manuel Pellegrini’s team have a record of four wins, four draws and eight losses. We doubt that the club’s fans are proud with these numbers. Most likely they are not.

West Ham are in a pretty bad shape at the moment. In their last five games their record looks like this: one win and four losses. Last week the Hammers hosted Arsenal at the London Stadium and scored the first goal, but the Gunners celebrated a 3-1 win. West Ham’s only goal in the game was scored by the Italian centre back Angelo Ogbonna.

That’s our English Premier League predictions for the clash between Southampton and West Ham United on Saturday. It’s going to be an interesting one. Good luck!
